Cairo, January 6, 2026. The Egyptian-Cuban Friendship Association (CEFA) today expressed its condolences and reaffirmed its solidarity with the Caribbean island following the death of 32 combatants during the US aggression against Venezuela last Saturday.
We praise the heroism of the combatants who confronted the criminal US aggression during the unprecedented pirate operation to kidnap Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, said CEFA head Kamal Gaballa in a message sent to the Cuban ambassador in Cairo.
He recalled that the group was carrying out security missions and were representatives of the Cuban Armed Forces and Ministry of the Interior, at the request of similar agencies in the South American nation.
Washington's aggression “constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, which guarantees security and equality among sovereign states,” he stressed.
The group expressed its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the US attack.
“Anyone who tries to take over Cuba will gather the dust of its blood-soaked soil, if they do not perish in the struggle,” said the Association, quoting a phrase from independence hero Antonio Maceo. (Embacuba Egipto/Prensa Latina)
