The Egyptian Socialist Party reaffirms its support for the Cuban people in the face of aggressive U.S. threats

The “Egyptian Socialist Party” follows with deep concern and strong condemnation the recent aggressive statements issued by U.S. President “Donald Trump,” which included an open and brazen threat to occupy and seize the Republic of Cuba. These statements have crossed every red line of international law and have once again revealed to the world the true criminal face of U.S. policy, based on blackmail, hegemony, plunder by any means and under various pretexts, and the supremacy of the law of the jungle.

President Trump has come out to announce to the world, with utter brazenness, his intention to “take Cuba,” describing it as the “beautiful land” he wants to have the “honor” of occupying, considering that he can “do whatever he wants with it” because it is a “weak country.”

These statements do not come out of nowhere, but are part of an aggressive and systematic campaign, as well as a comprehensive and ironclad blockade imposed for more than six decades by U.S. administrations, ever since the Cuban Revolution triumphed over the puppet government and freed itself from exploitation and dependence; The campaign has recently intensified with the cutoff of oil supplies to Cuba, with the aim of suffocating its economy and starving its people, exploiting for this purpose the situation of the Venezuelan people following the recent U.S. aggression against them.

The gravity of these threats is confirmed by the U.S. government’s own admissions regarding its intention to replicate the scenario in Venezuela, where its legitimate president, “Nicolás Maduro,” and his wife were kidnapped under flimsy pretexts, in a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. Likewise, the U.S. administration is threatening Iran and its people with the same fate, as part of a clear U.S. plan to eliminate all independent states that refuse to submit to its hegemony.

The United States justifies this impending crime with blatant lies, speaking of “freedom” and ‘democracy’ while imposing the cruelest forms of economic blockade, which are classified as war crimes against humanity. The so-called “freedom” Trump speaks of simply means turning Cuba into a new U.S. colony, plundering its wealth, and imposing its dictates; proof of this is its explicit demand to overthrow the elected Cuban president, “Miguel Díaz-Canel,” as a precondition for any negotiation, and the launch of a fierce economic war, waged “as collective punishment against an entire people,” as the Cuban president states.

The response of the Cuban president, and of Cuba—both government and people—has been clear and unequivocal: “unwavering resistance” against any external aggressor; and in the face of the worst-case scenarios, Cuba is absolutely certain that: “any external aggressor will face impregnable resistance.”

The Egyptian people, who struggle daily for the independence of their national decision-making and their will, can do nothing but stand with all their strength and solidarity alongside the brotherly people of Cuba in this adversity. What Cuba is enduring is part of a new neocolonial plan that targets all countries around the world that struggle against and reject subordination, as is the case with Iran, Venezuela, and other liberation forces worldwide.

The Egyptian Socialist Party, while condemning in the strongest terms the aggressive statements of President “Trump” and his brazen criminal calls to occupy the sovereign and independent state of Cuba, declares its full and unconditional solidarity with the Cuban people and their legitimate government in the face of this infamous and ongoing U.S. aggression; and calls upon all free and honorable forces in the world to stand united against this new U.S. crime, and to thwart the plan aimed at devouring militant Cuba—the Cuba of “Fidel Castro,” “Ernesto Che Guevara,” and their brave revolutionary comrades—and imposing slavery and exploitation upon it.

Anyone who remains silent today about tomorrow’s crime against Cuba is destined to be the next victim. Our moral and humanitarian duty compels us to speak out against injustice before it is too late.

¡Long live a free and independent Cuba, and glory to the will of the people in the face of U.S. hegemony and brutal imperialist aggression!
