Cairo, April 18, 2025. The Egyptian Progressive National Unionist Unionist Party (TAGAMMU) declared its full solidarity with the Republic of Cuba in the face of the recent US practices against Cuban medical missions, which it described as a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions and a violation of working standards in international organizations.
TAGAMMU condemned the U.S. Secretary of State's decision to suspend visas for officials associated with international medical cooperation agreements for Cuba, saying this decision targets vital health services that benefit millions of people around the world.
Cuban medical programs fully meet United Nations standards for South-South cooperation and represent a model of human solidarity that should be supported, not fought, he said.
It stressed that U.S. attempts to obstruct Cuban medical cooperation are aimed at depriving Cuba of an important source of income and causing an economic recession leading to internal unrest, which constitutes blatant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.
The statement concluded by calling on the international community to oppose such unilateral practices, and to respect the principles of international law, the sovereignty of States and their right to self-determination and to develop their own models of international cooperation and development.
