Cairo, April 26, 2026. At the Cuban Embassy in the capital, Ambassador Alexander Pellicer Moraga received Hassan Said Badrawi, Head of International Relations for the WAFD Party, who was accompanied by other members of the political party.
Badrawi presented the Cuban diplomat with a letter reaffirming the WAFD Party’s solidarity and support for Cuba during what they described as turbulent times. He also called on the Cuban people to stand firm, as a united nation, in the face of any external pressure.
The letter expresses the political party’s firm belief in the dignity of every sovereign state; its rejection of any interference in the internal affairs of other nations; and its support for Cuba in its quest for peace and prosperity.
For his part, the ambassador briefed the visitors on the difficult situation Cuba is facing due to the intensification of the blockade, the oil embargo, and threats from the U.S. government, including the possibility of military intervention on the island.
The Cuban diplomat emphasized that Cuba is a peaceful country and has always been willing to engage in dialogue based on the principle of respect for the sovereignty and independence of states, without impositions or threats, citing as an example the negotiations conducted with the Obama administration. He also affirmed the Cuban people’s determination to defend their sovereignty and independence should they be attacked militarily by the United States.
Pellicer Moraga thanked the WAFD representatives for their support and solidarity with Cuba at a crucial moment in its recent history. (EmbaCuba Egipto)
