The Ambassador of Cuba in Saint Lucia, Alejandro Simancas, visited the district of Soufriere, located on the west coast of the island and one of its main population and economic centers. The Ambassador was received by Pius Gangardine, Mayor of Soufriere, with whom the bonds were established and confirmed of friendship, solidarity and cooperation, which characterize the bilateral relations. They also discussed about the different possibilities for cooperation to promote the commercial, trade, cultural exchanges as well as exchanges in the field of education between Cuba and Soufriere. The Mayor expressed his appreciation, recognizing Cuba’s contribution to the development of Saint Lucia, in particular in the sector of Health. The Ambassador, who was accompanied by the Coordinator of the Medical Brigade in Saint Lucia, José Luis López, also visited the Health Center where there is a Cuban Doctor working, as part of the cooperation between the two countries. They also held a meeting with religious authorities in the district and visited the district’s main tourist attractions.
