Embassy attends a Congress of Vietnam Cuba Friendship Association in Hai Duong

The Embassy of Cuba was present at the second Congress of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association (AAVC) in Hai Duong Province, which took place on September 27 in that territory of northern Vietnam.

The event brought together several generations of vietnamese graduated in Cuba, who now work in this province in sectors such as health, construction, and government institutions .

While addressing the audience, the Cuban ambassador, Lianys Torres Rivera, stressed that the second Congress takes place in a special context, in the same days of September in which the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, visited Vietnam,  46 years ago.

The diplomat offered updated information on Cuba, with emphasis on the damages caused by the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by USA to the Caribbean country, as well as the recent measures applied by Washington to make this hostile policy against the island worse.

AAVC leaders in Hai Duong reiterated their solidarity and support to the Cuban people in their fight against the blockade, with words of remembrance and affection towards the Latin American nation in whose universities many of those present were trained as professionals during the 60s and 70s.

The second AAVC congress in Hai Duong ratified Nguyen Thanh Cong as its president for the 2014-2019 term, and was attended by former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Dinh Bin, AAVC permanent vice president, Nguyen Duy Cuong, and the leader of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in the territory, Pham Thi Lan Huong.
