The Embassy of Cuba in Indonesia promotes the Business Opportunities with the Island

Indonesia, May 16th, 2017. Today, the Embassy of Cuba in the Republic of Indonesia held the event "Cuba: present and future, a wide range of opportunities" to promote the business opportunities between the Asian country and the Caribbean island.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of Ambassador Nirsia Castro Guevara, who, after reviewing the history and current situation of Cuba, provided detailed information about the Guide of Investment and Business Opportunities in Cuba, as well as projects such as the Special Zone of Development of Mariel and the export of Cuban Medical Services, among others. The Ambassador reiterated the common view of both Foreign Ministries on the good state of diplomatic relations and the potential of developing economic and cooperation links. During the conversation generated after the presentation, the participants were interested in economics and financial aspects of Cuban daily life, the diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba, the blockade and the Revolution´s system of education, among others.

Other of the main attractions of the event were the promotion of the Cuban tourist destination through the presentation of videos and the cultural segment that was in charge of Damaris Morales, main activist of the Community of Cubans Residents in Indonesia, who works as a teacher of traditional and popular Cuban dances, after introducing salsa dance in this country in the late 90's.

The event was attended by members of the House of Representatives and the Foreign Ministry of Indonesia, as well as businessmen, travel agency officials, cultural organizations, the media and universities, among others friends of the Embassy.

Prior to the beginning of the event, the Ambassador met with Mohammad Toha, a member of the House of Representatives for the National Awakening Party (PKB according to its abbreviations in bahasa indonesio), other members of the delegation of the Indonesian-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group that will visit Havana later this month and Bernadeta J. Pratiwi from the Directorate of North and Central American Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.

The event, which was co-hosted by the Russian Center of Science & Culture, was another of the actions carried out by the Embassy to celebrate the 57th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Cuba during the visit to Havana of Sukarno the first Indonesian president, and the beginning of his friendship with the eternal leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz.
