The Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica celebrates Father's Day

The Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica celebrates Father's Day.

Kingston, Jamaica, 22 June 2020. The staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Jamaica celebrated Father's Day this third Sunday of June, with a political-cultural-recreational activity held on the premises of its diplomatic headquarters in this capital. The celebration was attended by a reduced number of participants, in compliance with measures adopted in the country to control the spread of Covid-19.

The Head of the Cuban State Mission in Jamaica, Ambassador Inés Fors Fernández, referred to the irreplaceable role that parents play within the family for the comprehensive guidance of children. She mentioned some examples of fathers, whose positive influence has been recorded in History as an important part of the greatness later achieved by their children - such as Marcos Maceo (the father of the ‘Titans of the East’, who died in the redeeming battlefield fighting alongside his sons), the Generalissimo Maximo Gómez (father of Panchito, an illustrious symbol of Cuban youth), Dr. Manuel Sánchez Silveira (father of Celia, the most autochthonous flower of the Revolution) and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes (father of Oscar and of all free Cubans.) She also congratulated the eight fathers, members of the collective, and wished them success in the difficult task of guiding the new generations on the path of virtue.

Performances, poetry, postcards dedicated to fathers, times of good humour, healthy recreation and the Cuban caldosa -a traditional soup- delighted everyone present.
