The Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica commemorates the fourth anniversary of the passing of Commander in Chief

The collective of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Jamaica commemorated this November 25 the fourth anniversary of the passing of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. The political-cultural event took place on the premisses of the diplomatic mission, and was attended by a small group of people in strict observance of the country’s measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Kingston, Jamaica, 26 November 2020. The collective of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Jamaica commemorated this November 25 the fourth anniversary of the passing of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. The political-cultural event took place on the premisses of the diplomatic mission, and was attended by a small group of people in strict observance of the country’s measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Tribute was paid to the life and work of the distinguished revolutionary by Professor Trevor Brown, President of the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association; Dr. Neville Grahan, President of the Association of Graduates from Cuban Colleges; Hope McNish, President of the Jamaica Peace Council; Damaris Hernández, President of the Antonio Maceo Association of Cubans Resident in Jamaica, who moved the audience with her singing of "Su nombre es pueblo"; Dr. José Armando Arronte Villamarín, Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Jamaica; and Dr. Reynel Isalgué Isalgué, Coordinator of the Cuban Education Brigade in Jamaica.

Also present were Paul Burke, former Secretary General of the PNP and distinguished member of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, and members of the staff of the Cuban diplomatic mission.

The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, delivered the closing remarks of the evening.
