Islamabad, October 20, 2026. On Cuban National Culture Day, solidarity friends connected to the culture sector, along with Cuban-Pakistani families, gathered at the diplomatic mission to celebrate this great date for Cuban culture, which is also dedicated to the centenary of the Commander in Chief and the 50th anniversary of the Ministry of Culture.
The activity, with Fidel present everywhere and filling the venue with legacy and dignity, began with a display combining Cuban paintings of various styles and nuances, along with books, musical instruments, and a small culinary sample, followed by audiovisuals featuring Cuban art, music, and culture in general and Spoken word poetry by a Cuban woman living in the Pakistani capital.
In his opening remarks, the Ambassador of Cuba, Damián Cordero Torres, thanked those present and emphasized the importance of culture not merely as entertainment, but as the essence of national identity. He highlighted Fidel's role in the process of saving culture for the very survival of the Revolution, as well as the significance of commemorating this date under the conditions of a cruel U.S. blockade, with the world well aware that Cuba offers art, culture, and solidarity—that Cuba is not a threat, but the blockade is.
The event concluded with a beautiful rendition of Guantanamera, sung in chorus by everyone present.
