Embassy of Cuba in Uganda celebrates the 48th anniversary of diplomatic relations and Africa Day.

Kampala. On May 24, the Embassy of Cuba celebrated the 48th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba-Uganda and Africa Day.

The evening was attended by parliamentarians, government representatives, student leaders, the Ugandan Pan-African Movement, along with representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, graduates in Cuba, Cubans residing in the African nation, other members of the solidarity movement, as well as representatives of the media.

The keynote address was delivered by the Honorable Kahinda Otafiire, President of the Global Pan-African Movement and Minister of Internal Security of Uganda, who highlighted the importance of the governments of the African continent defending the right to their economic sovereignty and their own path to development. Likewise, he pointed out the close relations between Cuba and Africa in general, and Cuba and Uganda in particular, expressed Uganda's eternal gratitude for the Cuban contribution, and ratified its commitment to support all efforts to strengthen bilateral relations of cooperation between the two nations.
