A delegation of the Embassy of Cuba in the Kingdom of the Netherlands composed by the Ambassador Soraya Álvarez Núñesz and Third Secretary Katia Aruca Chaple paid a working visit to the city of Raalte, province of Overijssel, on May 23 and 24 by invitation of the Foundation for Humatiarian Aid for the Antilles (FAHA), whose excellent links of solidarity with Cuba dates back to 1994.
The working program kicks off in the municipality of Raalte, where the delegation was received by the Deputy Major of the city with whom they spoke about current topics, the bilateral relations between Cuba and the Netherlands and identified some opportunities of cooperation as well as topics of mutual interest.
The delegation, accompanied by the directives of FAHA, also visited the modern and recently opened Nieuw Tyenraan, sports center which incorporates under the same roof areas for recreation and sports practice and areas for phisiotherapy for elderly people in an environment in which the ecological and sustainable management of resources prevail, especially in the management of renewable energy sources for regular activities, the Director of the center thoroughly explaines. The Ambassador presented the center with a replica of the Cuban Olympic flag, as a memory of their visit to the center.
Another activity of the intense program was the visit to the Fundatie Nyenhuis Museum in the city of Heino. Tyhe museum is located in one of the best preserved traditional houses in the province of Overijssel, home to many noble families of the region and that is home to a large collection of art from different eras including the pictorial work of Paul Citroen, Matze and Cremer.
The visit also served as an opportunity to know the traditions and values of the region, to speak about Cuba, their people, their lives and their culture and to witness firsthand the love for Cuba of this Foundation, whose chairman, Dick Assink, received in 2007 the Friendship Medal given by the Council of State.
