Embassy exchanges with members of the Spanish Club at a High School in Jamaica

Honouring an invitation made by Ms. Monique Collins, faculty advisor for the Spanish Club at the Immaculate Conception High School in this capital, a representation of the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica participated in a meeting held by the schools’ Spanish Club, an initiative that is part of the language immersion program developed by the faculty staff.

Kingston, Jamaica, 4 March 2020. Honouring an invitation made by Ms. Monique Collins, faculty advisor for the Spanish Club at the Immaculate Conception High School in this capital, a representation of the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica participated in a meeting held by the schools’ Spanish Club, an initiative that is part of the language immersion program developed by the faculty staff.

In an atmosphere characterized by the joy and enthusiasm of the young women, Mrs. Yasnay ​​Houelly Pérez, Assistant at the Ambassador’s Office, exchanged with students and faculty members on aspects of the Cuban history, culture and society.

Girls also showed great interest in knowing about the Cuban reality, the impact of the blockade imposed by the US Government on the Island and the scholarship programs for medical studies offered by the Cuban Government to this sister Caribbean nation.

At the end of the activity, students and teachers expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for the exchange and reiterated their desire to maintain contact with the Cuban diplomatic mission for future meetings.
