As part of the doctoral research "Understanding the articulation of the Caribbean identity in Aotearoa, New Zealand through a culturally relevant Caribbean methodology", the Master in Sociology Anabel Fernández Santana, PhD candidate in Sociology at the Technological University of Auckland (AUT), organized a meeting at the headquarters of our Embassy with members of the Caribbean community living in Wellington.
In a relaxed atmosphere, animated with diverse Caribbean music, residents in New Zealand from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Santa Lucia, among others, exchanged about how the Caribbean descendants have inserted and join the New Zealand society.
The research is based on a methodology that responds to the cultural practices of the Caribbean as an alternative to traditional research models that are more distant from Caribbean ways of interaction. (Embacuba NZ)
