Envoy of the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates visits Cuba

On May 13, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, held a cordial meeting with Omar Hassan Shehadeh, envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

During the exchange, the good state of bilateral relations was highlighted. Rodríguez Parrilla reiterated the will of our Government to continue advancing in the implementation of the agreements reached in the recent visit of President Miguel Díaz-Canel to this Arab nation.

As part of strengthening relations between both countries, Mr. Omar Hassan Shehadeh is visiting Cuba from May 11 to 16. During his stay he has held meetings with Cuban authorities from various sectors, such as Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, vice prime minister and minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment; Eduardo Martínez Díaz, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment; Juan Carlos García Granda, Minister of Tourism; Argelio Jesús Abad Vigoa, first vice minister of Energy and Mines; and Ana Teresa Igarza Martínez, general director of the Mariel Special Development Zone.

The program developed by the Emirati representative has included tours of various locations in the capital, such as the headquarters of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector business group “BioCubaFarma”, the Fidel Castro Ruz Center and the National Capitol. Likewise, he visited the Cárdenas 1 Photovoltaic Solar Park in the province of Matanzas.
