ESTEBAN LAZO EXCHANGED WITH THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF NAMIBIA

The member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party, Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, exchanged this Wednesday, in the National Capitol, with Lukas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council of the Republic of Namibia; who concludes his official visit to our country.

The head of the Cuban Parliament highlighted the historic and solid ties with the African nation, the will to continue expanding, and strengthening them in the interparliamentary sphere. In turn, Esteban Lazo conveyed a warm greeting to the brother Namibian people; to Sam Nujoma, Founding Father of this nation; to Hifikepunye Pohamba and to Nangolo Mbumba, second and current President of the Republic, respectively; and to his counterpart Peter Katjavivi.

For his part, Lukas Sinimbo Muha expressed his gratitude for the hospitality received in our country and highlighted the importance of this visit to Havana, leading a delegation, where he participated in the International Seminar on Parliamentary Diplomacy and developed an intense work program that will contribute to the consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Previously, the Chairperson of the Namibian National Council held a fruitful meeting to exchange experiences with the presidents of the commissions on Economic Affairs, Attention to Local Authorities of People's Power and Constitutional and Legal Affairs, and the coordinator of the parliamentary commissions – deputies Félix Martínez Suárez, Miriam Brito Sarroca, José Luis Toledo Santander and Marta Hernández Romero, respectively – on the functioning of the permanent working committees of the supreme organ of state power, the Cuban legislative process, the work of local and municipal bodies of People's Power, and the process of formation, discussion and approval of local budgets, among other topics of interest.
