Esteban Lazo holds a meeting with Senator Ron Wyden

The member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of Popular Power and of the Council of State, held a cordial exchange this Thursday, in the National Capitol, with Ron Wyden, president of the Finance Committee of the Senate of the United States of America.

Both parties highlighted the importance of this visit, and agreed on the desire to expand and strengthen inter-parliamentary relations, based on mutual respect, and on the potential for developing collaboration in areas of common interest to both peoples.

Previously, the US senator spoke with Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the Cuban Parliament; She, who was accompanied by Arelys Santana Bello, head of the Commission for Attention to Youth, Children and Equal Rights of Women of the National Assembly, and by Johana Odriozola Guitart, Vice Minister of Economy and Planning.

The deputies delved into the impact of the blockade and other US Government sanctions on the Cuban population, and its worsening in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic; as well as addressed other aspects of the country's legislative activity.

Also participating in this activity were Marta Hernández Romero, coordinator of the permanent work commissions of the Cuban legislature, and Johana Tablada de la Torre, deputy director general of the United States Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Subsequently, the distinguished visitor and his delegation toured the halls of the National Capitol.
