On May 5, Linett Ortiz Hernández, Commercial Director of the Translation and Interpreting Services Team (ESTI), an institution attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, paid a working visit to Barbados.
In order to promote the translation services provided by ESTI and in search of bilateral collaboration agreements for the improvement and training of our translators, she held exchanges with several Barbadian institutions and/or institutions based in Barbados, with the participation of Ambassador Yanet Stable Cárdenas and Consul Olga Dalmau González.
At the meeting held at the United Nations Office for the Eastern Caribbean, it was able to provide information to representatives of several of the organizations of the United Nations system that participated in person and online respectively, which showed interest in obtaining more information on the services provided by the entity.
Equally fruitful were the meetings with the Dean and professors of the Faculty of Humanities and Education of the University of the West Indies (UWI) and with a translator-teacher and the Acting Director of the Community College of Barbados, Foreign Language Centre, entities with which it was agreed to send proposals of interest for possible collaboration agreements regarding the training and improvement of the English language of our translators, to the University of Barbados and the University of the West Indies (UWI), as well as with a translator-teacher and the Acting Director of the Community College of Barbados, Foreign Language Centre. It was agreed to send proposals of interest to these entities for possible collaboration agreements regarding the training and improvement of English language skills of our translators, as well as the possibility of collaborating with these entities in the teaching of Spanish.
At the meeting held with officials of the Barbados Foreign Ministry, the services provided by ESTI were made known, showing interest in establishing agreements with ESTI to contract services and to carry out actions for the improvement and training in the Spanish language for young people aspiring to careers.
