Europeans mobilize to demand an end to the blockade against Cuba.

Several European cities were the scene of demonstrations over the weekend in support of the Cuban people and in rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

In a context of growing coordination among social, political, and labor organizations, the actions carried out in Belgium, Italy, and France have highlighted a common message: Cuba is not alone.

These initiatives have focused on denouncing the effects of the blockade on daily life in the archipelago, as well as defending its sovereignty and the right of its people to develop without external interference. They also reflect a strengthening of the European solidarity movement with Cuba, which continues to actively oppose unilateral coercive measures.

In Brussels, hundreds of people gathered in the streets of the Belgian capital to express their strongest rejection of the blockade and denounce the intensification of Washington's policy toward the Caribbean nation. In front of the United States Embassy, a united front comprised of social movements, political leaders, union representatives, members of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, and Cubans residing in the country demanded an immediate end to the suffocating measures affecting the island.

A similar event took place in Rome, where a national demonstration was held under the slogan "Cuba is not a threat." The initiative was organized by the National Association of Italy-Cuba Friendship and supported by social organizations, unions, political parties, and various Italian figures. The march proceeded through emblematic locations in the city to Porta San Paolo, a symbol of Italian resistance, in an action that combined historical memory and international solidarity in defense of the sovereignty and the right to life of the Cuban people.

Meanwhile, in Paris, a rally was held in front of the Eiffel Tower, as part of a broader series of demonstrations taking place throughout France. The event was attended by solidarity organizations, labor unions—including the General Confederation of Labor (CGT)—political parties, and representatives from various sectors, who reaffirmed their support for Cuba as a symbol of solidarity, humanism, and justice.

These mobilizations demonstrate a clear consensus around the need to end the criminal US blockade against Cuba and move toward an international order based on respect for international law. They also reinforce a clear political message: solidarity with Cuba transcends borders and is growing stronger in multiple spheres, reaffirming the international commitment to defending its sovereignty.
