Eusebio Leal visits Google´s offices in New York.

New York, 30 January 2017. Eusebio Leal, Historian of the City of Havana, visited today Google´s New York offices. He was received by Eric Schmidt, CEO of the multinational entity, and interacted with a group of executives and members of the working team of this office.

During the meeting, held on a very warm environment, Leal acknowledged the collaboration of the technology giant in producing “Nuestro Martí” 3D short film premiered in Havana and New York on January 12 and 28 respectively.

He also disserted widely about the project carried out in cooperation with American personalities and institutions –Google among them- for making, transporting and installing in Havana a replica of the José Martí monument situated at the New York City´s Central Park.

During the exchange, which was arranged in the form of an interview, the Cuban Historian also spoke about the restoration works in the historical center of Havana and his perception on the current relations between Cuba and the United States. As to this last topic, he highlighted the importance of this kind of actions, which help building bridges of friendship by sharing passages of history that are common to the Cuban and American peoples.

The event at Google´s New York office is part of the intense working program of Dr. Leal during these few days. Besides holding work meetings, he will also devote some time to visit emblematic places linked to the passing of the National Hero of Cuba through this city.

Google will make available for the public, through YouTube, an edited version of this meeting.
