Athens, October 18. On October 16, an event of solidarity with Cuba entitled "Cuba is not alone, solidarity with the Cuban people" was held in Kalamata, city of the Greek Peloponnese, organized by the Greek Committee for Distension and Peace (EEDYE) of Messinia. The event began with the words of Dimitris Oikonomakos, president of the Committee in the Messinia region, and organizer of the event, then a speech by the Cuban ambassador to Greece Zelmys María Domínguez Cortina and another by Grigoris Anagnostou, executive secretary of national EEDYE.
The current situation in Cuba, the strengthening of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, the confrontation with the pandemic, the Cuban vaccines, the destabilizing maneuvers against Cuba, the support to the Cuban medical collaboration and the support to the request that the Nobel Peace Prize will be given to the internationalist contingent of Cuban doctors Henry Reeve, and other aspects of interest were explained. At the end of the speeches, an interesting debate was held where the ambassador answered the questions of those present.
It was an important event of solidarity with Cuba where the unjust US blockade against Cuba was condemned and the solidarity and friendship of the Greek people with the Cuban people was reaffirmed.
Also present at the successful and well attended event were members of the Greek Committee for Peace of Messinia, the counselor / Consul of the Cuban Embassy in Greece José Oriol Marrero Martinez, members of the Hellenic Cuban Friendship Association Venceremos, representatives of various forces political, among which was the secretary of the local branch of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and other members of the party, Cubans residing in Greece with their families and the public in general.
