The Cuban group Teatro Tuyo made a performance of the theater piece “Gris” in Copenhagen on August 20, as part of the cultural exchange currently in progress by Denmark and Sweden. Danish public of different ages were able to appreciate the original and creative performance of the members of this theater group from Las Tunas directed by Ernesto Parra, specialized in the clown technique.
During the staging the talented Cuban clowns were able to convey clear messages about the preservation of the environment that transcend the barriers of language and culture. The play “Gris”, awarded the Premio Villanueva de la Crítica in 2014, was presented on this occasion at the headquarters of Batida Teatro, a renowned Danish group that has participated in different editions of the Havana Theater Festival. The staff of the Embassy of Cuba in Denmark attended the stage performance and exchanged later with the artists. The Director of Communications and Image at Casa de las Américas, the journalist and theatre critic Maité Hernández-Lorenzo who is currently in Denmark for a working visit, was also present.
During its cultural exchange across the Scandinavian countries, Teatro Tuyo has also made other performances in Ringkobing, Denmark at the International Performance Art Festival; at the Stora Teatern in Gothenburg, Sweden; at the Street Cut Festival, among others. (Embacuba Dinamarca)
