Wellington, September 12th, 2019. As part of the 2019 edition of the Latin America and Spain Film Festival (LASFF), the Cuban film “Why do my friends cry” was screened yesterday afternoon, by the Cuban director Magda González Grau, at Massey University in Wellington.
The film, which tells the story of four friends who find themselves after twenty years without seeing each other, is a clear representation of the challenges women face in today's Cuban society, was presented by the Cuban ambassador, Mario Alzugaray and had an excellent reception, which was evidenced by a room filled by the local public.
During the presentation, the Cuban diplomat referred to Cuba's achievements in the defense and promotion of women's rights, highlighting the important role of Cuban women in all areas of society.
LASFF was inaugurated on September 3rd in this city and will run until the first days of November, covering a total of eleven New Zealand cities. The Cuban film will open the exhibition in the city of Palmerston North on October 18th, an occasion that will serve to celebrate the Day of Cuban Culture. (Embacuba NZ).
