The director of the Caribbean Unit, Mrs Sandra Gittens, the new Barbadian ambassador to CARICOM, Veronica Griffith, and Corey Archer, the official in charge of Cuba´s Desk in the Foreign Ministry, received the Cuban ambassador, Francisco Fernández, to carry out the periodic exchange on bilateral matters and in this occasion in particular the latest events related to the recent ministerial meeting of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), in which Cuba ratified its commitment to several regional cooperation projects, as well as the 29th Intersessional Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM ), which usually addresses the priority aspects of regional integration; it was possible to confirm at the meeting both the good state of Cuba-Barbados diplomatic relations and cooperation, as well as the Barbadian support for the regional projects presented by Cuba in the areas of natural disasters, the environment, multi-destination tourism, health and education.
