Exchange with a great friend of Cuba

Kingston, 26 February 2025. The former Prime Minister of Jamaica and great friend of Cuba, the Most Honourable PJ Patterson, received the Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, at the headquarters of the Institute for Africa-Caribbean Advocacy at the University of the West Indies (UWI).

The Cuban diplomat gave an update on the new measures imposed by the administration of Republican Donald Trump against our country, which reinforce the nefarious impact of the US government's blockade against the Cuban people. Both parties reflected on the consequences of the unjustified and politically motivated reinclusion of the island in the unilateral and discredited list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

The Jamaican politician recalled his friendship with Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, while reiterating his permanent solidarity with Cuba and his firm will to continue demanding the elimination of the blockade.

In another area, they discussed the potential for developing joint projects between the Institute and different Cuban institutions.
