Kuala Lumpur, February 12 - The Executive Director of UN-Habitat, Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif received the Cuban delegation participating in the 9th World Urban Forum.
During the meeting, Dr. La Dra Anelys Marichal, Director General of Territorial Planning and Urbanism of Cuba and head of the delegation explained to Ms. Sharif about the work done by Cuba to prepare the national urban agenda, highlighting the participatory nature of all the agencies involved to achieve a more comprehensive document and adjusted to the needs of the population. He also extended an invitation to visit Cuba in the framework of an international conference on the topic of urban development that will take place next October.
The Executive Director, on the other hand, praised the work done by Cuba as well as being the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to prepare the national urban agenda, and assured that our country can count on the support of UN-Habitat for The next step is the implementation of the plan in other municipalities of the island.
