Vientiane, 17, 2023. Ambassador Enna Viant Valdés bid farewell, at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters, to the ten Lao scholarship holders who will study at the island's universities in the current academic year 2023-2024. Together with them were the directors of the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association and relatives of the students.
In the meeting, passages of the substantial work of Jose Martí, National Hero, whose birth is celebrated every January 28, were recreated, and was a source of attention and interest of those present.
The diplomat recalled the depth of his thought and work and ended her speech with a sentence full of content when she sentenced "Man will collect who sows schools", alluding to the noble task of solidarity and commitment of Cuba in the field of education that has formed more than 30,000 foreign students from the 1960s to date.
Next, the Cuban Spanish professor Luis Mario Zamora made the presentation "The Higher Education system in Cuban universities", which articulates the rich intellectual work of Martí with the achievements of the Cuban Revolution in the educational sector.
Finally, an event of deep historical and patriotic significance of the Cuban university students called the march of the torches was remembered, in which they participate together with the Cuban leaders and the people in general, in the Marti forge, where Marti served prison with only 17 years, defending his revolutionary ideals.
