Athens, 19 September. At the 46th Annual Communist Youth Festival of Greece (KNE), the Nobel Peace Prize request for the internationalist brigade of Cuban health professionals Dr. Henry Reeve was supported and the US blockade against Cuba was condemned.
The general secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitis Koutsoumbas, in his closing address to the festival, referred to the fight against COVID-19 in the world and Cuba's humanist and supportive role through the contingent of health professionals Henry Reeve, who went to help other peoples, and that the KKE supported the initiative to apply for the Nobel Peace Prize to this Cuban medical brigade. He also referred to Cuba being able to do this internationalist work, despite the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which strongly condemned.
The day before, the Secretary General of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), Nikos Abatielo had also spoken in this regard. In addition, the KNE had issued a statement of support to Cuba and the awarding of the Nobel Prize to Cuban doctors.
At the closing ceremony was Cuba's ambassador to Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, who subsequently personally thanked KKE and KNE for supporting Cuba.
This year the festival was held from 17 to 19 September and was special by COVID. All the measures indicated were followed, but the festival still managed to bring together thousands of people from all sectors of the Greek population.
