Georgetown, August 13, 2020. The Cuban Embassy to Guyana celebrates in a simple but profound way, the 94th birthday of our eternal leader, Fidel Castro Ruz. In his address, the Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro, stated:
Fidel lives in the individual and collective memory of the Cuban people and millions of people around the world as the leader, the combatant, the intellectual, and the person who contributed to change the lives of generations of human beings.
To bring people with a high illiteracy rate to the understanding of deep economic, cultural, social and international relations based on the strength of the most powerful forces and the submission of the dispossessed; Fidel became an educator, for this he ensured that the people were always informed in a timely and truthful manner, they knew the powerful forces we face and the value of defending the homeland. Fidel retook Martí to strengthen anti-imperialism; he envisioned and turned solidarity among peoples and internationalism into our most powerful weapons.
Cuba, led by Fidel, was transformed into a great school, turning Martí’s precept of "being cultured is the only way to be free" into a reality, with the firm conviction that only those who feel committed are capable of defending the work that is being built and they are willing to give their blood for the justest causes and to die for the freedom conquered.
All of us are impacted by his work and by his ideas; Many times we ask ourselves: Would we have achieved our dreams without Fidel?, convinced that without the Revolution he led, without his ideals of justice and without the effort he put into making a more just world, the dreams of the children of the poorest classes of Cuba and of millions of people would have never come true, mainly the poorest and most needy countries on the planet.
Here in Guyana, just to cite one example, since the triumph of the Revolution and until last school year, more than 1,200 young Guyanese have received scholarships from the Cuban government and have graduated as professionals. For 44 uninterrupted years, Cuban medical brigades have saved tens of thousands of lives and have helped to improve medical care for the Guyanese people.
Cuba and the world celebrate today with rejoicing the 94th birthday of the beloved Commander-in-Chief, in the midst of a complex national and international situation besides facing a bloody war that has lasted for more than sixty years, the commercial, economic and financial blockade of the Government of the United States that intends to starve our people into submission s, which they will not achieve and will fail once again because every Cuban revolutionary has the optimism, intelligence, dignity, and capacity that Fidel instilled in all of us to turn every setback into victory.
Fidel's legacy can only be understood and put into practice by continuing with the educational work undertaken by him, explaining, reasoning and giving the people growing participation in the construction of the revolutionary work, a difficult task in current times when the International reaction trivializes humanism, denies the best practices of international solidarity, encourage selfishness and individualism and attempts to distort and rewrite history from an imperialist perspective.
It is up to each of us to work hard so that Fidel's legacy will never be lost, in order to show that the revolution gets renewed stronger every day by our daily example. I reiterate that it can only be achieved by example, good work, responsibility before each task, rereading and systematically studying the interventions, speeches and reflections of the Commander -in -Chief to continue learning from his wisdom, to find the guidelines to follow before new exceptional situations, contributing from our personal life to great collective work.
Fidel forever!
Long live Fidel
