Fidel Forever: Emotional Tribute to the Commander on the 8th Anniversary of His Passing

Stockholm, November 25, 2024. At the Cuban Embassy in Sweden, the 8th anniversary of the physical passing of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander Fidel Castro Ruz, was commemorated. In an atmosphere filled with emotion and symbolism, Cuban residents, solidarity friends, and the embassy staff gathered to honor the legacy of one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century.

During the event, audiovisual materials highlighting Fidel’s life, work, and ideas were shown, followed by remarks from attendees. These interventions not only expressed gratitude and emphasized his remarkable figure but also reaffirmed an unwavering commitment to the Cuban Revolution and a firm condemnation of the U.S. economic and trade blockade against Cuba.

In her speech, Cuba’s Ambassador, Alba Soto Pimentel, underscored the relevance of Fidel’s ideas, his humanist and solidarity-driven character, his exceptional qualities as a statesman, and his concerns about the survival of humankind.

One of the most moving moments of the event was the participation of the youngest attendee, six-year-old Sajoni García, who took part in the political act and touched everyone with his firm and emotional proclamation: “I am Fidel!” His gesture was celebrated as a symbol of generational continuity and the enduring significance of the ideals of the Cuban Revolution.

The tribute concluded with the offering of flowers to the Commander, an act summarizing the unshakable love and respect for his figure and legacy.
