On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the physical disappearance of Vilma Espín Guillois, the Cuba-Turkey Friendship Association "José Martí" held a tribute colloquium at the Nazim Hikmet Cultural Centre in the city of Istanbul.
The heartfelt tribute began with the screening of the video of the song "Woman of Steel and Honey" dedicated to the outstanding revolutionary fighter, founder and first president of the Federation of Cuban Women.
Afterwards, those present held an emotional debate on the legacy of the heroine's life and work as a symbol of justice and equality for future generations. In this way, her struggle in defence of Cuban women's rights was remembered and historical passages of her work in the women's organisation were highlighted.
At the end of the tribute, all those present agreed that Cuba would experience much greater development in all areas of social life if the US blockade against Cuba were lifted and demanded the immediate elimination of this hostile policy against the island.
