The too recipient of the Medal of Friendship, cherishes photographs and vivid memories of his tenure in Havana, including the extensive conversations he held with the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro, which on occasions would begin at night and conclude at dawn. It was during that notable period that Fidel Castro and former Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings facilitated the arrival of the first Ghanaian students to the Isle of Youth. Since then, their numbers have reached into the thousands. Now at 92 years of age, Mr. Amoo-Gottfried remains among those who continue to speak of Fidel in the present tense.
He was accompanied by Mr. Jacob Sosi, the newly elected President of the Association of Cuban Graduates (ESBECAN), and their close associate, Mr. Benjamin Anyaré.
