Today, October 20, National Culture Day, the first monument to our National hero José Martí and the secondary and pre-university school "Amistad Laos Cuba" have been officially inaugurated in its capital Vientiane, Saythany District. The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Sounthone Xayachak, member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (CC LPRP) and Head of its Department of International Relations, Dr. Chaleun Yiapahoer, also a member of the CC, Minister of the Office the Prime Minister and President of the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association (LCFA) and the Ambassador of Cuba, Pablo Antonio Rodríguez Vidal. Also present, Brigadier Suphon Keovitsy, President of the Veterans Association of the country, vice ministers of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sports and Information and Culture, officials of the aforementioned ministries, Directors of the Foreign Ministry, officials of the Central Committee of the Party, former ambassadors of Laos in Cuba, the Minister Counselor of the Embassy, the Cuban professor of Spanish, members of the Friendship Association, Lao graduates in Cuba, teachers and students of the Spanish language school of the Lao National University and the only Cuban resident in the country, among others.
The event began with a cultural activity by the students of the school and the khaen association with two repentists singers, and Dr. Chaleun himself playing that typical instrument from Laos, whose music has recently been declared by UNESCO an intangible heritage of humanity. The Spanish students from the University also performed "La Guantanamera" dressed in typical Laos and Cuban costumes, a choir joined by the Cuban Ambassador.
After listening to the notes of the national anthems of both countries, the Director of the school and the head of the Department of Education of the Capital took the floor to read the agreement of the Ministry of Education and Sports that approves the name of said center of Education. For his part, the Director General of the Department of Mass Organizations of the CC PPRL read the agreement of the President of LCFA on the approval of the School as a center and collective member of said Association. The President of the LCFA, Dr. Chaleun and also Ambassador Rodríguez spoke, referring both to the date chosen for the inauguration, October 20, as well as to the life and work of our Apostle and to the traditional existing friendship relations between Cuba and Laos. Dr. Chaleun said that this school would be the center for the study of the history of Cuba and the work of José Martí. For his part, the mayor of the Saythany district, where the school is located, exposed the tradition of struggle of that territory and asked all its citizens to ensure the integrity of the recently inaugurated monument. Ambassador Rodríguez also delivered the message of appreciation that the Vice President of ICAP sent to the Friendship Association on the occasion of such an important event.
After the speeches, the members of the presidency placed the wreath in front of the José Martí monument, followed by which they cut the ribbon at the entrance of the school, leaving the school officially inaugurated.
Dr. Chaleun, on behalf of the LCFA, gave to the Director of the school three computers and a printer as a donation. The participants then went to the main entrance of the Center, where the painting donated by the Ambassador, of his authorship, was already hanging on the wall, which is an acrylic painting that reflects the recently inaugurated monument and school, in wich the flags of both countries are waving as a symbol of the friendship that from this moment the center represents.
After the political part, the participants shared to the beat of the music performed by the members of the Khaen Association and the repentists singers.
