Between September 3 and 6, the first deputy minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Peñalver Portal made an official visit to carry out Political Consultations at the end of which, a Cooperation Plan for the years 2022 was signed. – 2025.
Both Foreign Ministries confirmed broad coincidences on issues of international interest and the Cuban side thanked the permanent support in their fight for the elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US against Cuba.
The friends of Cuba felt honored with the presence of Vice Minister Pennalver Portal, who presented the Order of Solidarity and the 6th Anniversary Seal of the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, awarded to the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association. On behalf of this, the recognitions were received by its President, the vice president of the Lao National Assembly Dr. Chaleun Yiapahoeur, in a solemn act in which representatives of the Party, Government and institutions linked to Cuba were present.
In a courtesy visit, the Vice chancellor was received by the CC member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and member of its Foreign Relations Commission Cro. Thongsavanh Phomvihane. Both parties ratified the high level of partisan relations that reflect the historical and fraternal character that they have had since their inception and expressed the desire to continue expanding them.
Another moment that reflects the level and character of the historical ties between the two countries was the reception of Cro. Sonexay Siphandone, member of the Political Bureau of the CC of the PPR Lao and deputy prime minister to first deputy minister of MINREX. Both parties shared about the experiences in the construction of socialism and the promotion of economic cooperation and bilateral ties.
As part of the program, Peñalver Portal also visited other centers of economic and socio cultural interest, in addition to visiting the Laos-Cuba Friendship School.
