BANGKOK, March 14th, 2019.- The Ambassador of Cuba to Thailand, Héctor Conde Almeida, held a meeting with the First Vice President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) of the Kingdom of Thailand, Dr. Kitti Wasinondh.
In the cordial exchange, which was also attended by members of the NLA’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and of the Thailand-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, the good path of bilateral relations was ratified and a mutual willingness was reiterated to continue strengthening the bonds of friendship between the Peoples and the National Assemblies of the two Nations. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing bilateral cooperation actions, especially in the areas of biotechnological applications and public health.
At the meeting at the NLA’s headquarters, the representatives of both countries highlighted the historical significance of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations commemorated on May 15th, 2018. Historical exchanges held between the National Assemblies of Thailand and Cuba and follow-up actions were reviewed. The outcome of the Constitutional Reform process developed in Cuba and the progress of the process of updating the Cuban economic and social development model were discussed.
The Cuban diplomat and the First Vice President of the ALN addressed the work of Thailand as President pro tempore of ASEAN in 2019, as well as the main regional and global international policy issues.
The Ambassador of Cuba thanked the First Vice President of the National Legislative Assembly, the government and people of Thailand, for the support to the United Nations Resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba.
