Stockholm, April 2, 2024 - At the headquarters of the Communal Council of the City of Uppsala, First Vice President Carl Lindberg received the Ambassador of Cuba.
The traditional ties of friendship that have united Cuba with that city, as a result of university exchanges and with regional authorities, were part of the exchange.
The First Vice President explained the most recent aspects linked to the development of Uppsala, as well as the importance of planning its development, given its accelerated growth and compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Ambassador thanked the meeting and provided updated information about the Island and the axes of the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030; the processes to increase the autonomy of local authorities; the importance given to education and health as relevant spheres for human development; and the persistence of the blockade and the inclusion of Cuba in the infamous List of Countries Sponsoring Terrorism, as the main obstacles to its development.
Other topics of mutual interest were revised during the meeting.
