First Women's Congress of ESBECAN reaffirms solidarity with Cuba

The Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, attended the First Women's Congress of the Association of Cuban-Trained Professionals (ESBECAN), which was held in Tomreik Hotel in Accra.

In his speech, the Cuban diplomat thanked the invitation to the event and recommended the ladies remain cohesive around ESBECAN, as the umbrella organization of the Ghanaians trained in Cuba. Another suggestion was that they serve as mentors to the new generation of young people who are finishing their studies in the Caribbean Island.

The ESBECAN ladies, remembered their stay in Cuba, and what represented that stage of their lives in their current professional and family performance. All thanked the historic leader Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro for his solidarity with the Ghanaian people.

Among the topics discussed were the role of women in Ghanaian society and the need to strengthen their presence within ESBECAN. The delegates reaffirmed their commitment to continue mobilized in support of Cuba, a country they consider their second homeland.

Within the framework of the event, diplomas of recognition were given to a group of Ghanaian personalities linked to the Youth Training Project on the Isle of Youth, including the former Ambassador of Ghana to Cuba, Mr. Kojo Amoo Gotfreid. For the Embassy of Cuba was also at the Congress the First Secretary, Julio César Sánchez.
