Havana, October 31st, 2023.- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, arrived in New York, to attend the consideration, for the 32nd ocassion, of the draft resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba", to be held next November 1st and 2nd at the United NAtions General Assembly.
On November 2nd, the Minister will address the United Nations General Assembly, a venue where during the last three decades, the international community has ratified the rejection to this unjust and illegal policy that has been in place for more than 60 years and has been reinforced, at unprecedented levels, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemics.
The draft resolution, to be considered by the Assembly, calls for the lifting of the unilateral coercive measures against Cuba, whose economic damages are estimated at USD 159,084,300,000, and USD 1,337,057,000,000 taking into account the behavior of the dollar in relation to gold in the international market.
In 2022, the resolution presented by Cuba was adopted by 185 votes in favour and 2 against (United States and Israel). Once again, Cuba and its people are confident on the overwhelming and unequivocal support of the international community to its legitimate appeal to end the blockade.
