Georgetown, January 31, 2020. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs convened the Diplomatic Fair which was held last Friday at the premises of D’Urban Park to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The accredited embassies in the country presented various manifestations of their respective cultures, which became a party, full of joy and color that corroborates that peoples can share and live in peace. The Cuban Embassy presented a sample of its music and traditional food that had a favourable reception, posters of tourist places, advances in the field of health and about Cuban medical collaboration in the world and particularly in Guyana where Cuba has developed his solidarity work successively during the last 44 years. Likewise, Cuban residents participated in cultural representations along with other nations and the “Son de la Loma” was heard, giving a distinguished national touch, and the students Dennys and Ramón Ocampo García, representing their school, were part of an orchestra integrated by Guyanese children of different nationalities which interpreted a fragment of the Anthem to the Joy of the Ninth Symphony of Ludwing Van Beethoven. The Cuban booth was widely visited by the authorities of the host country, including Foreign Minister Dr. Karen Cummings, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Guyana, Cuban residents and the public in general.
