St. George, March 2 - In a meeting with officials Yadirys Echenique Paz and Ariel Pazos Ortiz, head of the Cuban diplomatic mission and consul in Grenada, respectively, former Grenadian ambassador to Cuba, Vyra McQueen, emphasized the need to support the Cuban people during these difficult times.
During the exchange, former ambassador McQueen conveyed messages of solidarity to the homeland of Martí and Fidel, for which she expressed deep appreciation. She stressed the importance of maintaining cooperation between the governments of both countries, despite pressure from the White House to isolate Cuba internationally, as well as the duty of the Grenadian people to stand in solidarity with the Cuban nation. Cuba has never stopped helping its sister nations in the Caribbean, and Grenada is one of the countries in this region that has received tangible examples of Cuban solidarity for decades. Now it is our turn to reciprocate, McQueen stated.
Likewise, the former Grenadian diplomat emphasized that Cuba has always had her personal and professional support. “Given Cuba’s current situation, as a result of the increased US blockade, it is important to support the Cuban people. I have helped Cuba whenever I could and would continue to do so even from my deathbed,” she affirmed.
The meeting concluded with the Cuban diplomats expressing their gratitude to former Ambassador McQueen for her sensitivity to the external threats facing Cuba.
