Former President of the Grenada Senate, Chester Humphrey, denounced during a live broadcast on GoodMorning Grenada, aired by the GBN network, the energy blockade imposed on Cuba and the intensification of hostility from the United States.
Humphrey stressed that U.S. measures have triggered an energy crisis that directly impacts the daily lives of Cubans, restricting access to basic resources and hindering the Island’s economic development. The political leader pointed out that these actions are part of a pressure policy aimed at suffocating the Cuban people and breaking their resilience.
The former Senate President recalled that Cuba has upheld a tradition of solidarity with Caribbean nations, sending medical brigades, training professionals, and supporting social projects in the region. In this regard, he affirmed that hostility against the Greater Antilles also represents an attack on the tradition of cooperation and solidarity that characterizes the Caribbean.
Furthermore, Humphrey urged governments and social movements in Grenada and across the Caribbean to maintain a firm stance in support of Cuba.
Chester Humphrey is a Grenadian leader with a long trade union and political career, who served as President of the Grenada Senate from 2014 to 2022. His biography reflects a close connection with the labor movement and with key political processes in the recent history of the Caribbean.
