Fraternal meeting of Ambassadors of Cuba and Ethiopia in Zimbabwe

Harare, May 6, 2025 - The Ambassadors of Cuba to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa, and of Ethiopia, His Excellency Mr. Rashid Mohammed Abdulwahid, held a fraternal meeting today. The diplomats, in addition to discussing the excellent relations with the host country, highlighted the role of the Caribbean nation in the struggle for the liberation of Africa. Ambassador Pérez Mesa acknowledged the traditional support of this continent in the battle against the inhumane blockade imposed on the island by the United States for more than 60 years. She recalled that at the recent Summit of Heads of State and Government, the African Union (AU) approved, for the sixteenth consecutive time, a resolution condemning Washington's unilateral policy that violates the principles of international law and the human rights of the Cuban people. The AU statement also demanded the removal of Cuba from the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism. Both ambassadors reiterated their commitment to honoring the strong ties between Cuba and Ethiopia.
