Yekaterinburg, Russia, September 14, 2026 – Meyvis Estévez, First Secretary of the National Committee of the Young Communist League of Cuba (UJC), held a fraternal meeting with Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, during the international festival hosted in this Russian city.
Estévez expressed gratitude to Mupamhanga—who is also a Member of Parliament and a member of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) party—for the historic solidarity between the two peoples, a bond recently reaffirmed by Zimbabwean youth during a session of the this country's Pan-African forum.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to developing exchange initiatives that enable young people from both countries to learn about and preserve the shared historical memory linking Cuba and Africa. The youth leader from the Caribbean island invited Mupamhanga to visit Cuba next year, when the UJC will celebrate its 65th anniversary.
