Friends of Cuba in Denmark condemn implementation of Title III of Helms-Burton Act

On May 16, the Danish-Cuban Associacion of Friendship spread a press-release  through which condemned the recent tightening of the blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba.

The organization joined the protests undertaken in different parts of the world against the activation of Title III of the Helms Burton Act, addressed to recruit the US blockade against the Caribbean island. The statement refers the heavy economic and human damages inflicted to the Cuban people by the blockade that was described as “illegal, coward and based on lies”. Likewise, they urged that policy should be immediately revoked.

At the same time, the Danish friends reaffirmed their solidarity with Cuba and invited the Danish media to disseminate that these sanctions approved by the US administration not only affect Cuba but also are an attack to the international law.

Previously, the Association had approved a resolution in the framework of its General Assembly that took place on March 9, through which they urged the Danish government to take concrete steps in order to protect the interests of Danish businesses and to oppose the reinforcement of the blockade against Cuba.
