Oslo, June 18, 2023. Members of the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association, the Communist Party of Norway and the Red Party, as well as Latin American friends and Cubans living in this country, joined the Embassy staff to pay homage to Ernesto Che Guevara on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of his birth, commemorated on June 14.
The main component of the activity was the screening of the documentary film "Present Absence", in which Aleida Guevara, Che's daughter, remembers her father with a moving testimony. It was the best way to pay a memorial tribute to the Heroic Guerrilla Fighter just hours before the celebration of the Father's Day.
The occasion was propitious to also pay homage to Antonio Maceo y Grajales, another great man in the history of Cuba, also born on June 14, but 178 years ago.
Motivated by the words of the Ambassador, in which she shared some of the main ideas of the speech delivered by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel at the closing of the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held in Havana on May 2, those present condemned the US blockade and the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious list of State sponsors of terrorism.
