The TKP organized a protest in solidarity with Cuba under the slogan: “U.S. genociders, keep your hands off Cuba,” in rejection of the tightening of the economic blockade against the island.
The demonstration took place in front of the Şişli Cevahir shopping mall, where militants and supporters displayed banners reading “U.S. genocidal state, do not touch Cuba.” The action was also held in opposition to the executive order signed on January 29 by U.S. President Donald Trump, which further tightened coercive measures and restricts the entry of oil into Cuba, deepening the energy crisis facing the country.
During the event, TKP Secretary General Kemal Okuyan strongly criticized U.S. policies toward the Caribbean nation and stated:
“Cuba does not threaten the United States, but it does threaten the mentality that dominates the imperialist world. It threatens selfishness, tyranny, and colonialism.”
Participants denounced the reinforced blockade as a policy of economic suffocation that directly affects the daily lives of the Cuban people, impacting fuel access, electricity generation, transportation, and essential services.
The mobilization is part of broader solidarity actions carried out by various political and social organizations in Türkiye in support of Cuba and in opposition to U.S. sanctions.
