Friends of Cuba in Saint Lucia reject expansion of the Blockade

The Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia – Cuba) issued a declaration of support for the “sister island of Cuba”, in which it expressed their concern because of the recent escalation of the Government of the United States against Cuba and in particular, their decision to apply Title III of the Helms-Burton Law which they call “archaic”, “draconian”, “imperialistic” and “prehistoric”.  The Press Release states that the new measures of the United States may have an impact on Cuba’s trade and economic relations with the world but however this will not prevent their advancement to a more just, prosperous and sustainable society and adds that as history has shown the world for sixty years, the aggressive policy of the United States will not achieve to bend the firm will of the Cuban people to defend their national sovereignty.  It also reminds that the Blockade and the Helms-Burton Law have been rejected by the international community for several decades through the clear and reiterated calls and demands of the United Nations (UN).  The declaration concludes by expressing their total rejection to these illegal actions which contradict all the laws, conventions and norms of International Law and Human Rights as well as the fundamental principles of non-interference and non-intervention in the internal affairs of the United Nations.  The Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia – Cuba) is composed of members from different sectors of Saint Lucian society and represents the best values of friendship between the two islands.
