With the holding of their special General Meeting this weekend, the Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia – Cuba) reaffirmed their bonds of friendship between the peoples of both countries. During the meeting, the President of the Association, Marlene Alexander summarized the different activities carried out during 2018 and presented the main work goals and objectives for 2019, a year in which the two countries mark 40 years since their relations were established. She also pointed out preparations for a large group from the Association who will be attending the May first festivities in Havana and emphasized support for the Cuban Revolution and for the call to put an end to the Economic Blockade imposed by the United States.
Also giving speeches were the friends Peter Lansiquot, a graduate of Cuba and Alva Baptiste, Member of the House of Assembly of Saint Lucia, who recognized our country’s role in health and education programs throughout the region. On behalf of Cuba was the Ambassador, Alejandro Simancas, who gave a few words, showed gratitude for the displays of solidarity and friendship and called for the continued work to strengthen relations between our two countries. The meeting, held at the Auberge Seraphine Hotel in the city of Castries, had the outstanding presence of members from the Association, the Ambassador of Venezuela Leiff Escalona and representation from the Cuban Medical Brigade in Saint Lucia
