The members of the new Executive Committee of the Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia – Cuba) held their first meeting last Friday 27th September. During the meeting, headed by the President of the Association, Marlene Alexander, the program of work for the last quarter of the year was discussed and agreed upon, during which the Association intends to develop actions of solidarity with Cuba and to contribute to a better knowledge and relationship between the two countries in the different fields. In this way, the Association is strengthened as the main expression of the deep feelings of friendship between the two peoples. During the meeting, they reaffirmed their rejection of the United States' attempts to tighten the economic, commercial and financial blockade. In addition, they expressed their support for the Cuban Doctors, whose work in solidarity in more than 60 countries has been an example of South-South American cooperation. Today, they are being harassed by the United States in their pursuit to discredit this work. The meeting was attended by the Cuban Ambassador to Saint Lucia, Alejandro Simancas, as well as a group of Cuban Collaborators in this country, who explained their work with Government institutions in different fields.
