Friends from Saint Lucia will be attending May First commemorations in Havana

The Embassy of Cuba in Saint Lucia hosted last Friday a delegation from the Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia – Cuba) who will be traveling to the largest island in the West Indies in order to participate in the festivities for May first.  The group, composed of 18 persons and headed by Marlene Alexander, President of the Association, was received by the Cuban Ambassador, Alejandro Simancas, who expressed appreciation for the Association’s long-standing solidarity work and who delivered to its President, Marlene Alexander a Cuban flag which they will carry next to the Saint Lucian flag throughout their Program during the visit.  The delegation will dedicate this trip to the 40th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Cuba and Saint Lucia and seeks, in this manner, to reinforce the ties of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.  Besides participating in the May first Parade in Havana, they have scheduled activities in different historical places all over Cuba, noteworthy among them being the tribute that they will be making to the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, at the Saint Iphigenia Cemetery.
